CATONSVILLE TOPS FIELD FOR REGION HOCKEY

Comets are No. 1 in 3A North Region draw; Towson, Lansdowne gain high seeds

Catonsville High has earned a No. 1 seed in the state public field hockey region tournament. The unbeaten Comets are tops in the 3A North Region with Towson No. 2. The teams will play Thursday evening at Catonsville for the Baltimore County title.
The Comets will host either Patapsco or Franklin in the quarterfinals, Oct. 25. Hereford, seeded fourth, will host Aberdeen, while Dundalk (No. 6 seed) will travel to Fallston on the 25th. In 2A, Lansdowne is seeded No. 2 in the 2A North, and will host Elkton. Overlea travels to Loch Raven in another 2A quarterfinal, and Eastern Tech hosts Edgewood. Owings Mills will play Glenelg in the 1A West semifinals Oct. 30. The winner will play either South Carroll or Poolesville in the region finals Nov. 1. The state semifinals will be Nov. 5-7 at sites to be determined later, and the finals will be held at Broadneck High, Nov. 12 and 13. -Derek Toney |
