Catonsville field hockey remains unbeaten with win over Hereford

The Comets forced overtime as Shelby Polk scored on an unassisted goal with 2 minutes, 15 seconds remaining in regulation. The teams played a scoreless 10-minute overtime session before McCoy found the ball after a brief scramble in front of Hereford’s goal, and put the winner past Bulls’ goalie Chelsea Lafond. After a scoreless first half, Hereford had the game’s first tally as Celeste Dilferdinando scored on a penalty shot with 22:30 left. The Comets responded seconds later with Abby Sneeringer scored with an assist from Jackie Reymann with 22:10 remaining. The Bulls (6-2-2) regained the lead at 2-1 with 15:57 left on an unassisted goal by Lindsay Riordon. |
